The evolution of computer science has led to innovative developments in digital and communication technologies, and society has changed dramatically. The Internet is promoting the spread of digital devices, and an IoT society in which everything is connected to the network is being realized.
The use of IoT has extended to in-vehicle devices. By connecting in-vehicle devices to the network, it is possible to construct a mobile network with actual vehicles as components.
Furthermore, it is also possible to collect peripheral information and vehicle information in real time from the in-vehicle sensor of the actual vehicle by bidirectional communication.
By effectively using the information obtained through a huge network expanded on a social scale, efforts to find solutions to the problems of the current society are expected in the business and academics. Especially providing a solution to runaway accidents caused by elderly drivers which frequently appear in the news is aspired.
Finding the problem
Here, technical issues for the early realization of automatic driving support are classified into functions that should be implemented on the vehicle side and functions that should be developed on the social infrastructure side.
It is necessary to formulate comprehensive system requirements including functional requirements required for vehicles and functional requirements required for social infrastructure.
I would like to start with the standardization of “autonomous driving-oriented social infrastructure”.
First, a demonstration experiment is conducted after combining the existing technologies, and issues and problems for practical application of automated driving and driving support are identified.
Route detection by high-precision GPS positioning, control area segmentation by local and wide area networks, vehicle relative position detection using inter-vehicle communication and road-to-vehicle communication, cooperative operation with surrounding vehicles, laser scanning radar, millimeter wave radar, It mobilizes the obstacle avoidance by the vision system and supports driving operation by the elderly while each vehicle autonomously judges.
I would like to deepen my research on the comprehensive system requirements necessary to realize autonomous driving and driving assistance, and work on the requirements.
