A modern vehicle with advanced electronic control is full of sensors and can be seen as a mobile information device equipped with an actuator.

Therefore, by connecting the in-vehicle information device to the Internet, it is possible not only to access the net information from the vehicle but also to collect information in real time from the in-vehicle sensor of the actual traveling vehicle (this is called probe information).

The real-time information from the in-vehicle sensor of each vehicle has not been fully utilized yet. However, as social networking progresses due to the spread of digital devices, there is a social need to make more effective use of real-time information obtained from in-vehicle sensors.  For example, if an in-vehicle camera (drive recorder) can be effectively used as a mobile security camera, it would be no doubt that it will help to prevent crimes.

Finding the problem

In other words, it is considered to become the next social issue to build an information environment useful for the real world by sharing probe information via the network.

Argument

The biggest advantage of mobile communication is that information can be acquired in real time from the moving vehicle.

If this information can be used effectively, it will not only be able to avoid traffic jams more accurately, but it will also be able to avoid autonomous accidents.

Therefore, I would like to focus on internetCAR (ICAR), which is a framework for handling cars as Internet nodes. I would like to study what kind of mechanism is necessary to effectively use environmental information that can be acquired via in-vehicle sensors, and I would like to expand the function of ICAR.

Conclusion

Therefore, I would like to study the system outline and system requirements of the social information infrastructure network by using probe information under the associate professor Keisuke Uehara who is studying mobile communication in the ICAR project.

By studying with Associate Professor Keisuke Uehara, who has conducted many empirical studies in the field of social use of probe information, I am sure that I could obtain various perspectives regarding my research and it would open up new horizons for me.
