In order to raise computer literacy, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology has stepped up to reform compulsory education, and programming education will be fully implemented in elementary schools from FY2020.

To develop logical thinking ability, creativity, and problem-solving ability, “programming thinking” is necessary.

Programming thinking means what kind of instruction combination is necessary to realize a series of processes intended by the user, and how to combine symbols corresponding to individual instructions. It is the power to think logically how to improve the combination of, and get closer to the intended processing.

The process of thinking by trial and error in order for students to experience programming learning and have the computer perform the intended processing is extremely important in education.

I suppose that programming thinking is a universally required ability no matter which career path you choose in the future and what occupation you take.

Argument

As for programming languages, visual programming languages ​​that can be easily programmed by combining instructions as if building blocks have gained popularity.

In text-type programming languages ​​that describe programs using characters, keyboard operation is the main language and language grammar needs to be understood. Therefore, it is necessary to provide an environment where learners can easily work, such as providing a function to point out grammatical errors.

Conclusion

I would like to study and disseminate the ideal learning environment to promote programming learning suitable for elementary, junior high and high school students. In addition, I would like to examine the introduction of an interactive learning environment using AI technology to enhance the learning effect.

Examining the conclusion

By studying with Professor Takashi Hattori, who has an interest in visual programming and programming education, and has worked on visual programming projects for primary education, I am sure that I could obtain various perspectives regarding my research and it would open up new horizons for me.

Therefore, I believe that Keio University’s Faculty of Environment and Information Studies is the most suitable place for pursuing my research and social contributions, and I am aspiring to enter your school and study in your laboratory.
