- Professor Masaki Suwa
Introduction of the discussion
Communication skills refer to the ability to facilitate mutual communication, especially in interpersonal exchanges in the business scene.
In recent years, many workplaces have re-recognized communication skills as an important ability to smoothly build relationships with others.
Communication includes verbal (language) and non-verbal (non-language). Non-verbal communication consists of gestures and eye movements from the information of sight, and the tone and tempo of the voice from the information of hearing.
Many of the current communication skill tests diagnose the four items of listening ability, transmitting ability, questioning ability, and coordination.
However, even if good results are marked, many people say that they are not confident in communication.
Finding the problem
Then, what kind of skill does the communication skill that activates communication specifically mean?
Argument
Trying to communicate with the other person with just a verbal explanation can be difficult.
Prof. Suwa took the comedy talent as an expert in communication skills, and clarified the verbal elements by quantitatively visualizing and analyzing how they are skilled in TV programs.
Conclusion
Therefore, I would like to propose an effective proficiency practice method for skills that activate communication more effectively by devising a method for quantitatively visualizing communication skills even in non-verbal elements.
Examining the conclusion
By studying with Professor Masaki Suwa, who is researching methodologies and environment construction for self-development from both physical skills and sensibilities, I am sure that I could obtain various perspectives regarding my research and it would open up new horizons for me.
Therefore, I believe that Keio University’s Faculty of Environment and Information Studies is the most suitable place for pursuing my research and social contributions, and I am aspiring to enter your school and study in your laboratory.
