When I first applied to Keio University’s Faculty of Policy Management at Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC) during the summer, I was hopeful. I had put in the effort, crafted what I thought were compelling essays, and believed I had a strong case. But when I received my rejection, it was a crushing moment. I questioned whether I was truly ready, whether my ideas were as strong as I thought.
Then came Hayashi-sensei—the person who made all the difference.
After the setback, he told me, “Don’t worry. We’ll build this from the ground up.” And that’s exactly what we did. Step by step, he guided me through every part of the application: the personal essay, the three-minute video, and the free-form section. His approach wasn’t just about fixing what was wrong—it was about pushing me to think critically, to dig deeper into my ideas, and to refine my storytelling until it truly reflected my passion for neuromarketing and my vision for the future.
Our sessions were short, yet incredibly impactful. With each round of feedback, I saw how much my application evolved. He helped me structure my thoughts more clearly, refine my tone, and ensure that my unique perspective stood out. His guidance taught me that a strong application isn’t about saying what sounds impressive—it’s about conveying authenticity, depth, and purpose.
This time, I submitted my application with confidence. When I saw my acceptance letter, I knew it wouldn’t have been possible without him. Hayashi-sensei didn’t just help me get into Keio SFC—he changed the way I approach challenges, proving that resilience and refinement are the keys to success.
