- Professor Sachiko Mori
Introduction to the discussion
Play therapy is a comprehensive name for psychotherapy given to children.
Compared to adults who are usually given psychotherapy using words as the main medium, since it is difficult for children to express one’s inner state through words, and to understand what the therapist tries to convey, plays are generally used as the main medium.
However, theoretical research on play therapy is not always sufficient, and there is little explanation in particular about why play therapy has a therapeutic effect and why using play is linked to psychological healing.
Finding the problem
Then, what are the characteristics of children’s play therapy?
Argument
There are two points as characteristics of the therapeutic structure of play therapy. One is the conflicting nature of the game situation itself, which means that the treatment structure has both free openness and realistic restraint.
In other words, the child is given the freedom to play freely and is given the freedom to do whatever he wants, but on the other hand, he is instructed to leave the mother and stay with an unknown person for a certain period of time. You are required to be in the playroom.
The other point is the treatment structure that includes the family in the treatment environment in that the interview is conducted with his mother in parallel with the play therapy.
Conclusion
Therefore, I would like to study play therapy for children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Examining the conclusion
By studying with Professor Sachiko Mori, who has numerous research achievements in psychotherapy and psychoanalysis of children, I am sure that I could obtain various perspectives regarding my research and it would open up new horizons for me.
Therefore, I believe that Keio University’s Faculty of Policy Management is the most suitable place for pursuing my research and social contributions, and I am aspiring to enter your school and study in your laboratory.
