American non-profit organizations (NPOs) bring multiple values to society and value individual ideas. This comes from historical background.
In other words, it is derived from the fact that the puritans who came to America from Europe in search of “new ground”. They created a community before the government was able to do it and worked on everything voluntarily.
Tax-operated governments cannot work on business without approval, whereas NPOs are the ones who come together to voluntarily meet the public needs of the community.

What is the difference between American and Japanese NPOs?
Argument
Reasons for America being called an advanced country for social contribution include the number and scale of NPOs, the amount of donations being overwhelmingly large, and the social status of NPOs being as high as companies.
As can be seen from the fact that NPO organizations are in the top of the popularity ranking for job-seeking university students in the United States, NPOs are deeply recognized as an option for employment in the United States.
In contrast, in Japan, NPO awareness and trust are still low.
Also, in terms of funds, compared to the overwhelming majority of individual donations in the United States, corporate donations are much greater than individual donations in Japan.
Conclusion
Therefore, I would like to deepen research to raise awareness of non-profit organizations (NPOs) and to carry out activities for regional revitalization in cooperation with local residents’ organizations.
Examining the conclusion
By studying with Professor Yasushi Watanabe, who has experience in researching non-profit organizations and communities in the United States and is familiar with the US non-profit sector, I am sure that I could obtain various perspectives regarding my research and it would open up new horizons for me.
Therefore, I believe that Keio University’s Faculty of Environment and Information Studies is the most suitable place for pursuing my research and social contributions, and I am aspiring to enter your school and study in your laboratory.
