Biological cells are complex systems involving numerous metabolic reactions, but individual metabolic reactions (enzymatic reactions, gene transcription / translation, protein DNA binding, etc.) can be modeled on computers relatively easily.
Therefore, if all metabolic reactions occurring in the cell are modeled and executed in parallel, complex biological activities in the cell can be simulated. An example of this is the general-purpose cell simulator E-CELL.
If immune cells and nerve cells can be constructed on a computer, various virtual experiments for drug discovery and medical treatment will be possible.

Therefore, if the modeling and simulation functions of the E-CELL system are extended and applied to implement the cell death (apoptosis) mechanism, the scope of application will be expanded.
Argument
With the improvement of experimental technology (multi-omics analysis) centered on metabolome measurement, a metabolite measurement technology, it has been possible to verify hypotheses obtained in simulation experiments using experimental data.
By linking experiments and modeling / mathematical analysis, for example, build a model of a life phenomenon based on knowledge and experimental data on the interaction between known substances, and confirm the simulation results with the experimental results.
If the simulation results differ from the experimental results, a research cycle in which the previous hypothesis is reexamined, the model is corrected, and the simulation experiment is performed again becomes possible.
Prediction obtained from simulation results is expected to promote improvement of experimental technology.
